They are one of the best live bands around today. Like hardly no other, Nihiloxica masterfully and effortlessly synthesize traditional African rhythms and electronic beats. Hailing from Kampala, Uganda, from the milieu of the seminal Nyege Nyege collective, their musical roots are the percussion music of the ancient kingdom of Buganda. On their album debut Kaloli, they collaborated with British producers Spooky-J and pq. Their electronic beats enhance the power and improvisation prowess of this music but elegantly take back seat; at the core are always the rhythms and melodies that Nihiloxica conjure with their drums – powerful, tremendously danceable, and proud.
