Soothingly ahuman machine clatter, rattling rhythms with metallic reverb, icy vocals from eternal limbo – that’s the sound of the band Geier aus Stahl (Vultures of Steel). It all began as a one-man project by visual artist and musician Leonard Prochazka from Vienna; and last year the album debut Strapazen und Genesung was released. At donaufestival, Geier aus Stahl can now be experienced for the first time as a trio, flanked by Paul Ebhart (electronics) and Hannah Todt (guitar and bass). In this incarnation, the interplay of analogue and digital sound has become even more sophisticated and spontaneous – and more danceable: in the end, we all embrace in the cold throes of industrial disco.
