The music of Félicia Atkinson is a music of levitation and whispers, composed of field recordings and electronically modulated instrumentation. And, above all, it is the voice of the French artist: she sings, she whispers, she hums; she sneaks into your ear yet seems to remain at an unreachable distance; she eludes any determinability. “Music tells of secrets, and it tells of reconciliation,” says Atkinson, who lives on the rugged coast of Normandy. Listening to her, you believe at every moment that something else, something unsaid, perhaps something unspeakable, is lurking under the audible.
