SOUND

The music on Vladislav Delay’s albums Rakka and Rakka II is about the endless expanses of the Arctic tundra, about the experience of being at the mercy of a nature hostile towards human beings. Since the 1990s the Finnish producer has counted amongst the most versatile avant-gardists in electronic music. 14 years ago, he withdrew to the island of Hailuoto just south of the Arctic Circle. His new compositions were inspired by extended hikes through the wilderness: White noise, drones, glacial crunching basses, and stuttering beats merge to create a soundscape in which the sublime of nature is reflected in the technically sublime. Antye Greie-Fuchs generated the visuals for the show.
