SOUND

Tara Nome Doyle is one of the most charismatic pop artists of her generation. On her second album Værmin, she tells a tragic love story, orchestrated with piano, violin, and synthesizer and sometimes pulsating beats, too – and with a voice that is almost angelic, yet sometimes raw and sinister. All songs are named after animals considered pests: leeches, caterpillars, snails, worms… Værmin celebrates their beauty and thereby also poses a political question: What if we “invited” these vermin instead of rejecting them? Wouldn’t we arrive at a more beautiful relationship with ourselves, with the world around us, and with other people?
