in sheep‘s clothing - reinterpretations and cover versions

SOUND

Anja Plaschg aka Soap&Skin writes the most beautiful, tender, and at the same time abysmal songs of the present. Since her debut Lovetune for Vacuum in 2009, she has risen to become one of the most important Austrian pop artists. Plaschg’s work is full of appropriations: She has played the role of the singer Nico in the theatre and interpreted David Bowie’s album Blackstar with a full orchestra. Her albums also contain many cover versions, for example of Robert Johnson (Me and the Devil) or Louis Armstrong (What A Wonderful World). For donaufestival, she has put together a programme that consists exclusively of new interpretations of other musicians’ songs.
