SOUND

The Japanese percussionist Midori Takada began her career in the 1970s with the RIAS Symphony Orchestra Berlin. Later on, she developed her own charismatic style as a soloist, combining Asian and African traditions, not unlike the minimal music of Steve Reich. Her magnum opus Through The Looking Glass from 1981 was recently reissued, and lately she collaborated with singer and producer Yasmine Dubois aka Lafawndah on the album Le Renard Bleu. At donaufestival she performs a solo concert: In Takada’s delicate repetitive style resound the rhythmic riches of the entire world.
