For almost two decades, MC Yallah has counted amongst the most prominent African female rappers. She comes from Kenya and lives in Uganda; her frenzied rhymes, typically spat out in the Bantu language Luganda, are about female self-empowerment, the hardships and joys of emancipation, the fight against sexualized violence. She released the fabulous album Kubali with the French producer Debmaster: He underpins her versatile rap style with hectic trap beats and bass burrowing under the surface.
