In the band Savages she played the most aggressive post-punk of the past decades. As a solo artist, Jehnny Beth sings about sexual desires, fetishes, and fears, exploring herself and trying to slip into other people’s shoes. Some she desires, some are monsters, sometimes both come together. To Love Is To Live is the title of the solo debut that Jehnny Beth presents at donaufestival. You’ll hear enticing solicitations for sex over erotically vibrating industrial soundscapes mixed with bravado about hard dicks (I’m the Man). And of course, she says, it’s about guilt because she was raised Catholic.
